Clawhammer Banjo - Open back, wood block pot, dowel stick truss, brass tone ring, Five-Star tuners, traditional B&D peg head, with star inlay, 26 1/2" scale. Walnut and cherry construction. Has pearl dot position markers on the fingerboard, and dot markers up the inside of the fingerboard. The heart of this banjo is the thirty-two piece wood block pot, glued up in a stacked hexagon assembly, and turned to perfect roundness on a wood lathe. Gives a hearty, beefy tone, with lots of "cluck" for old-time music. |

Appalachian Banjo - This banjo style, known as a "Stanley Hicks" pattern, was made famous by Foxfire book #3. Our model was made under the tutelage of John Huron at John C. Campbell Folk School. Choice of either solid walnut or cherry construction, fretless, wooden tuners, 6"skin head. Surprising volume for such a small head. Other upgrades available, such as mechanical tuners. |

Gourd Banjo - This great-sounding banjo has received acclaim at state fairs, gourd shows, and music festivals all over the south. Featured at Kentucky Music Week in 2006. Gourds are hand-chosen at festivals, or grown on our own farm. We require a sturdy wall thickness of one-half inch. Unique leather lacing makes head tension adjustable without drilling holes in the gourd. Neck is your choice of walnut or cherry, with a contrasting fingerboard. Good volume, and very playable. Can't play a fretless instrument? We'll make you one with frets, though it's not very traditional. |

Bass Mountain Dulcimer - Many heads have turned at jam sessions when they a booming bass sound and couldn’t find the source. What they heard was this bass dulcimer, with an internal passive pickup, routed through a Pig Nose amp. (A pre-amp is required.) A must for dulcimer clubs everywhere. Drums and Percussion - When you grow gourds to build banjos, you get a lot of gourds. We thought it would be fun to turn these into other musical instruments, and we have. Gourd drums, shekeres, lamellaphones, rainsticks, rattles, and guiros...and in a blazing array of colors. You’ll have to call or email to get prices on these. |
